Analyses the building thermal environment and energy consumption of a typical apartment in Beijing in three heating modes using the TRNSYS simulation software. The results show that when heating ceases during the day, the highest temperature drop is 7.15 ℃ and the lowest temperature reaches 10.85 ℃. Compared with continuous heating, intermittent heating can decrease the energy consumption. In the heating mode that all the rooms cease heating in daytime and resume heating at night, the ratio of energy saving is 6.20%, while this ratio can be up to 17.40% in the heating mode that all the rooms cease heating in daytime and adopt time-sharing district heating at night. It is necessary to increase the heating equipment capacity in order to keep the set temperature of the rooms. When adopting intermittent heating mode, the temperature of inner wall surface is lower than that in continuous heating mode, and further study should be carried out on their influence on the people’s thermal comfort.
